It will be interesting to see how gamers navigate this holiday season, particularly those with back-ordered new consoles who also own previous generation consoles. With the  EA FC 24 Coins much-boasted backward compatibility of the current-gen, players may be more inclined to purchase games for the previous-gen consoles in order to play them now with the promise that they will still be playable on the new hardware.

If that's the case, then there is a strong likelihood sales for games of the current-gen might not nearly be as successful as those of the previous-gen for the 2020 holiday season. This Black Friday is shaping up to be trickier than usual to navigate for game developers and publishers like Electronic Arts. Most FC 24 fans are excited to see football star David Beckham appear in their games, but owners of the Nintendo Switch are missing out on seeing the legendary athlete appear on their screens.

Although some areas of the game have been improved upon, like its Career mode, it's still very much the same game as its predecessors with no major changes even though this entry will set the tone for the new generation of gaming. However, the PC, PS4. and Xbox One versions of the EA Sports FC games have still gotten fairly good reviews each year. On the other hand, the Switch versions have been received very poorly, as each year EA seems to just release the same game as the previous year... for four years in a row.

FC 24 has released some excellent players other than David Beckham. Many younger players have had their ratings boosted, leaving some seasoned veterans behind. Some of these older players have complained about their ratings, which can be expected in a competitive field of work like football. However, the players are still there ready to be chosen for a game or a FUT, and they are sure to be stronger than their ratings suggest so they will definitely be a good addition to any team.

These strong players are available on the Switch version of FC 24 too, Switch owners are just missing out on a visit from David Beckham on their fields. The game's augmented version is still to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and EA has confirmed that Beckham will be the cover star of the now current-gen games, and all PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners will be able to add him to their squad for free.

Much to Switch owners' dismay, Beckham will not be featured in their games, and the news has been met with some angry gamers who are tired of playing games that are unequal in quality to their peers' games. EA has not given a reason yet as to why this decision was made, but even if it does, it likely will not soothe the savage beast that is the Switch EA Sports FC community.

This is not the only complaint that gamers have with FC 24. as the game is still fraught with microtransactions. A court in the Netherlands has ruled that EA must remove loot boxes from its game or be faced with some hefty fines, and the UK may rule loot boxes as gambling soon. EA doesn't seem to be bothered by this, and instead has embraced the gambling aspects of the game and has even introduced a new tool to help gamers control how much money they spend on the game.

The EA Sports FC franchise remains one of the most popular video game franchises, so EA still gets away buy Fut 24 Coins with a lot, including loot boxes, and leaving entire consoles out of their main features and marketing strategies. Hopefully, EA gets its act together after enough complaints from the community and adds Beckham to the Switch version of FC 24. but in all honesty, this would be quite surprising.
